Submission Formats and Deadlines

There are currently two deadlines for submissions. These are:

  • 31st of January (for publication in April); and
  • 30th of June (for publication in October).

PTR accepts submissions for both articles and book reviews.

1) Submit an article

The PTR is a peer-reviewed membership publication. The editor will send all papers out for double-blind anonymous review. The editorial team is committed to encouraging publication so, where necessary you will receive helpful guidance on alterations to papers necessary before publication. We welcome papers from students of all levels and those new to the publication process.

Please send all submissions to ptr@bps.org.uk

It is the authors responsibility to ensure that all identification details e.g. name and contact details of authors, are ONLY provided on the front page of the document, which will be removed to anonymise submissions.

Authors are advised to read the guidance document produced by the PTR editor.

2) Submit a book review

The PTR also has a section for book reviews. The following is a message from our Book Reviews Editor:

Book reviewers wanted!

What better way to support teaching or getting fuller explanation and contextual discussion is there other than from a book? Finding a good book can go a long way in helping refresh one’s own understanding and in directing others to move quickly forwards. To that end, we try to include a variety of Book Reviews in PTR so readers can receive colleagues’ recommendations. To help PTR do this, I keep a list of available books for review with others available on request. I would be delighted to send these to any volunteer (you do not need to be a member of DARTP) in return for a written review of around 1000 words. Please share your appreciation of a good text with others and if you can’t recommend it, also let others know!
